My Services

These are tailored entirely for you and may include some or all of those listed below:

  • An initial meeting to build rapport and discuss with you any fears you have and your desires and expectations of your pregnancy, labour and parenthood.  This may be in your own home or other place of your choice and at a time convenient to you. (This initial consultation is completely free of charge and without obligation.)
  • Be available by prior arrangement during your pregnancy to have building rapport and trust sessions and further discuss any concerns, desires and expectations as above. (These may be one to one, with your partner, other family member or friend.)
  • Prepare a package of services tailored to your specific requirements.
  • Attend any antenatal appointments with you, be your spokesperson, advocate and confidant.
  • Assist in the preparation of your birth plan.
  • Be available to answer any questions you have concerning your pregnancy and birth by email, telephone or if preferred by prior arranged face to face meeting.
  • Be available twenty-four hours a day two weeks before your due date and until after your labour and birth of your baby.

During birth

  • Attend on you on demand when you believe to be in labour at your home or meet you at the hospital or birthing centre.
  • Remain with you throughout your labour.
  • I have a birthing ball for hire or loan.
  • Provide you with emotional and physical support.
  • Support and re-assure your partner as necessary.
  • Be your confidant and advocate during your labour. Listen to your wishes and act upon them.   Communicate effectively on your behalf and empower you to communicate your needs effectively with midwives and other care professionals.
  •  Re-assure you and proffer encouragement as appropriate and explain procedures to you.

Immediately following birth

  • Stay with you following the delivery of your baby until both you and your baby are at ease.
  • Attend to any personal needs you may have following the birth.
  • Take photographs (Observing any local policy of hospitals or birthing centres.)
  • Send any emails announcing the birth of your baby and photographs to your family and friends to email addresses you have provided as soon as I return home from the birth. 
  • Postnatal
  • Advise in relation to breast feeding. (Doulas are not trained breast feeding experts.)
  • One home visit to discuss your confinement and answer any  questions you may have.
  • Provide you with a written account of your confinement and photographs in a presentation pack for you to keep.
